Find homes by region
With 1.8 million inhabitants, the Capital Region is the most populous of Denmark's five regions. The region consists of the former counties of Copenhagen and Frederiksborg, as well as the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg and the regional municipality of Bornholm. The region has also taken over the tasks of the Capital Hospital Community. The region has central administration in Hillerød.
Region Zealand can be a bit misleading as it does not cover the entire island of Zealand. The northeastern part of the island, including Copenhagen, Hillerød and Helsingør, belongs to the Capital Region. Region Zealand also includes the islands of Lolland, Falster, Møn and several smaller islands.
Vejle is the regional capital, but Odense is the largest city in the region as well as home to the University of Southern Denmark, which has campuses in Esbjerg, Kolding and Sønderborg. The regional administration is responsible for hospitals and public transportation, the latter of which is handled by two operators: Sydtrafik on the mainland and Als, and Fynbus on Funen and the adjacent islands.
The Central Denmark Region with central administration in Viborg covers the former Ringkjøbing County, most of Aarhus County, the southern part of Viborg County and the northern part of Vejle County.
North Jutland comprises the former North Jutland County and the parts of Viborg County north of the Limfjord, including the island of Mors. In addition, the northernmost part of the defunct Aarhus County where the city of Mariager is located. The region's central administration is located in Regionshuset in Aalborg East. One of Denmark's 5 universities, Aalborg University, is located in North Jutland. Many museums are located in Aalborg, such as Nordjyllands Historiske Museum, KUNSTEN, Musikkens Hus, Utzon Center and Zoologisk Have.
