Islands Brygge
Islands Brygge, also referred to as Bryggen is a district in Copenhagen on the northwestern part of Amager, København S, which also shares a postcode with Amager.
In recent years, Islands Brygge has become an incredibly popular gathering place for many people and tourists, especially in the summer when life in the district flourishes with many outdoor activities as well as activities on the water.
Here is easy access to the center of Copenhagen, a stone's throw to the popular Christianshavn, and with the Metro to Copenhagen Airport.
Here you will find all kinds of specialty shops, restaurants and the large Fisketorvet on the other side of the bridge. There are a number of cafes, restaurants and pubs on Islands Brygge. The most famous cafe is Kulturhuset Islands Brygge, but there are a number of others, including Cafe Alma, Aristo, Saga and Nose Wise. It is also possible to get service at the delicatessen / bakery Wulff and Konstali. In addition, there are plans to establish a café on the square at Gemini Residence. Gemini Residence is a residential building on Islands Brygge. The property is located down to the water by Bryggebroen opposite Fisketorvet shopping center. The building is a 42 meter high rebuilt seed silo that belonged to the Danish Soy Cake Factory.
The two most important cultural events of the year are the cultural port and the town festival in August and September, respectively.
Havnebadet Islands Brygge is an open-air swimming pool in the middle of Copenhagen that attracts families with children, joggers and beach lions from all over the city. On hot days, Copenhageners bathe here with an unobstructed view of the city's towers and life in the harbor.
The water is continuously checked by the Environmental Control, which ensures the water quality when the bath is open. There are five pools in total and two of them are for children. The smallest is 30 cm deep at the low end. The spring tower is one, three and five meters.
On the lawn in front of the bathing facility there is plenty of space to unfold the rug and relax, have a picnic and play ball.
In the winter months, you can experience bathers from the association Vinterbad Bryggen, who also enjoy the saunas set up on the quay.
The facility is under the supervision of lifeguards and there is free admission.
